Here you will find my realism portfolio in the menu to the left, under Figure Drawing and Still Life. Studies include nudity, so if you're at work or other sensitive environment be aware!

These pages reflect my realistic drawing studies, done in addition to the more abstract and installation work people are more familiar with. I feel that learning to draw classically and realistically is an open doorway to learning how to see the world more intimately, and thus reach beyond in one's studio practise to gain ground in more conceptual works.

All of these drawings are charcoal on Strathmore paper, and typically I'm using the white of the paper as the brightest point - only rarely do I highlight with white chalk. Some of the images with the most velvety blacks are a reductive style of drawing, where I've darkened the page heavily with charcoal and removed with an eraser, filling in some of the medium tones with more layers of charcoal and removal; much in the same way a painter would work with layers and glazes of paint or similar the way a printmaker works in aqua/mezzotint.

I will be adding student work over the next few weeks, so be sure to check back in if you're inquiring about lessons!
